About

Recode aims to overcome the challenges involved in renewable energy shared ownership and to develop a replicable model and road map to enable renewable energy communities (RECs) to co-own and govern the assets themselves in support of their long term equity, prosperity and sustainability.

Project aims

Recode(Renewable Energy Community-Developer Engagement) aims to:

  • Build a repository of REC collaborations, partnerships and shared ownership models from Ireland and around the world.
  • Evaluate two case study shared ownership models, in conjunction with Sharedturbine, a project partner.

Funding and project leadership

Recode is funded by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, is led by the University of Galway and partnered with Sharedturbine, an Irish SME that manages the development, financing, construction and operation of renewable energy projects in collaboration with local communities.
